Wednesday 26th November - Thought it was about time for me to add something to the rant. That and I'm still at work, and all I've been doing all day is fighting sleep, and writing a functional specification document for a database graphical user interface... oh the joy of undergraduate placements!
Thanks to Mike and American Dave who once again phoned and woke me at 3:30am last Friday, and I'd only gone to bed at 2! I've decided that 3:30am is actually the time of my deepest sleep, which is necessary for me to actually be able to survive the next day. Thanks for depriving me of that guys, appreciate it. Lesson learned: put phone to silent, and pee in Mike's drink at Christmas (oops shouldn't have told you that!).
I watched that Simpson's episode with Tony Blair in it, where the family come to England on holiday. It's very funny but very random (I didn't know we had "Dame Judi Dench Fish and Chips" but what the hey...) I am quite happy to laugh when they rip the piss out of us English, cos they've had over 320 episodes of ripping the piss out of themselves!
I'm looking forward to going to Bristol on Friday for the weekend, to see Stat and Tom and Ellen, and it just so happens to be Ellen's 21st, so Egg and Lucy E are coming down too! It's gonna be quality!
I was in Loughborough a couple of weekends ago, that was good as always - thanks Kim for letting me set up camp on your living room floor! Sorry I can't be down this weekend for Kim and Kim's 21st's - double booked!
I'm back home on Wednesday 17th December, and I'll be seeing 'LOTR - Return of the King' very soon after, probably more than once! Yay! Can't wait to get the Epsom cru back together, I haven't seen you all since the last week in June! That's 6 months!!
Right that's enough ranting to last a while. See you soon folks!
Wednesday 12th November - Thanks to Mike and American Dave for phoning and waking me at 3:30am. Grrrrr. What made it really weird was that I was having a dream about sending post to Pete, and the post kept getting returned to me, and then one of the letters started making a very loud noise: ring ring, ring ring...
Sunday 9th November - Been fairly busy this week too... saw Evanescenece at Manchester on Halloween, it was quite good. Amy Lee (lead singer) was wearing a wedding dress inc. veil for the duration. Interesting! I spent over 14 hours on various trains last weekend to get to and from home for my mum's 50th, and I had to miss Gemma's 21st party in Loughborough, but I still had a good time at home. Saw a few mates, saw lots of family, had a nice free meal (thanks dad!).
I read a couple of books on the trains, "Stupid White Men" by Michael Moore, which is a very interesting look at the people in charge of the world, and how disturbingly stupid our leaders are. The other one is "High Society" by Ben Elton, which is a very interesting story about legalising all drugs, in order to stop most other crime. Its a very compelling argument, a very good read.
At work, we had a tour of the Lancashire police helicopter, which is based at Warton. We got to sit in it and play with the cameras (i.e. reading number plates at great distance, seeing what we looked like on the thermal imaging camera) - it was very cool. Just as we'd finished the part of the tour of the helicopter itself, we had to jump out cos they had a call out, so we got to see it take off while we were standing right next to it! They also showed us some footage they have, including one where a man on the run got surrounded and trapped by a herd of cows!
Happy birthday to Carl, who was 21 on Thursday (sorry I missed it on the day!!). Happy birthday to Phil, who is 21 tomorrow. We went out last night for it (I joined them after the Electric Soft Parade gig, which was really good).
Today is the first weekend day that we've all been at home at once since we moved in. I'll be in Loughborough next weekend, Preston the weekend after, and Bristol the weekend after that for Ellen's 21st!
