August 2003

Sunday 31st August - READING 2003 - What can I say, it was of course, AMAZING!! Check out the photos here! Highlights of the weekend have to include The Darkness, Hell is for Heroes, Cave In, Linkin Park, The Used, and so many more.

I moved into my new house on Monday, it's amazing and everyone has to come see it! We'll be having a couple of parties here of course so I'll keep you updated. The builders are still here though, just finishing off the small details (but the bastards still woke me up with their relentless hammering at 9am!). We had a phone line installed on Monday and the broadband will hopefully be arriving in the next few days, so its not been easy for me to update the site. If you're reading this though it means I found a way somehow!

I've also finished my first 8 week placement with BAE SYSTEMS, and I start the next one which is a 16 week placement on Monday...

NEW STUFF COMING SOON TO LOSING TOUCH

I'm trying to find the line ups for the last 4 Reading Festivals so I can remember who I've seen!

Top 10 lists - My top 10 albums, films, somgs etc, and something where you can add your own personal top 10s.

I've added a section to "Chums" - the fantasy street fight, to speculate on who would win in a fight between my uni mates and home mates! If I don't get too much shit from people I'll keep updating it!

Monday 18th August - My line manager is on holiday and my other line manager has gone sick for the rest of my placement. What did I get done today? 4 powerpoint slides. About 15 mins work. Oh well only another 2 days!!

Here's the elaborate Reading masterplan:

Leave work 4pm Wednesday with a car full of stuff for Reading. Brave the M6 and try to make it home in less than 6 hours. Sleep. Wake up. Pick up Pete and Sheena 9:45am Thursday. Meet at Mikes house at 10. Somehow fit everyones stuff in both cars. Drive in convoy to Reading. Somehow collect the tickets. Park somewhere on site. Put up tents. Get unacceptably drunk. Do Reading. At the end of Metallica on Sunday night. Somehow escape the site with my car in 1 piece. Drive back to Leatherhead. Sleep. Wake up really early. Pack car full of stuff I need from home. Try and get back to Preston in less than 6 hours. Move out of Phils house into the new one. Sleep!

Tuesday 12th August - Went out in Preston for the first time last night, got happily pissed of course, Flaming Lamborghini - "it will mess you up" - featured. Beer, cocktails and best of all, "sass", or Purple Nasty as I like to call it!!!

YEAHHHH THEY SERVE IT HERE!! WOOOOHOO!

Also, went scrambling in the Lake District on Saturday, without sun cream (oops). The other problem was I found that hanging off the side of a mountain with a massive drop beneath me was rather scary, but Phil skillfully led me up to the top and it turned out to be a really good (but painful) day! Photos here...

Friday 8th August - Thanks to Jill for this:

Four Secrets to a Happy Marriage
(from a Male Point of View)

1. It is important to find a woman who cooks and cleans
2. It is important to find a woman who makes good money
3. It is important to find a woman who likes to have sex
4. It is very important that these three women never meet

Wednesday 6th August - Liking the sun, not liking the boiling hot humid nights. That's why I'm drinking myself to sleep tonight! Thank you Stella, you complete me. Evanescence and The Darkness gigs have been booked, at great personal expense to myself. Let's just see what I've spent recently... £300 iPod, £120 Evanescence gig (6 tickets), £70 Darkness gig (4 tickets), £120 on 2 weeks rent for where I'm living now, £100 deposit on new house, hmmm I think I'm getting poorer...

I raced a EuroFighter on the way home from work today. I lost. I want one.

Saw Terminator 3 last night. Like Charlies Angels 2, it's entertaining, and the women are fit, but it's no masterpiece. Arnie still kicks arse though. Best line: When John Conner and the Claire Danes character are having a nice pleasant chat and Arnie turns round and says "your talking is good, it relieves tension, and reduces the fear of death!"

Sunday 3rd August - Done absolutely nothing this weekend, except fail to get a hair cut, spend too long updating this site (but its better than ever now!) and try to organise tickets for a couple of gigs (Evanescence and The Darkness). I did see some sun though! :)

Contract signing is well underway for the new house, it's a 5 bedroomed big terraced house near the student area of central Preston, within walking distance from lots of pubs, the city centre, the leisure centre and it's about a 20min drive from work. At the moment the house is being completely gutted and rebuilt from the inside out, with new doors, windows, heating, carpets, units, furnature, decoration etc. Oh and 2 bathrooms (i.e. 2 showers!).

Friday 1st August - Went home at the weekend, saw the Epsom cru, had good BBQ and not even the rain could spoil the day! I've now got a house sorted for the year placement in Preston, I'll be moving in after the Reading Festival - can't wait!

The trip to Munich was sweet, lots of free food and beer and wine on the company expenses! I also recently bought a brand spanking new Apple iPod which holds 3500 songs! Makes the constant break downs of my car more bearable!! Next on the calendar... READING 2003!
